Joan Laporta Replies to Arabia's Latest Big Offer for Lewandowski: 'It's Short by...'

The president of FC Barcelona isn't convinced by the latest offer for the Polish forward.

The FC Barcelona has just received a new lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia for one of its stars: Robert Lewandowski. The Polish player's contract extends until 2026 and earns the highest salary on the team. Considering he's already 36 years old, anyone might think the club would be willing to part with the Polish forward, but the reality is quite different. Joan Laporta has replied decisively, setting a price for his departure.

Madrid-Barcelona has learned that a team from Saudi Arabia is willing to pay around 30 million euros for Lewandowski, but the proposal has been rejected by Laporta. The figure doesn't quite convince the Barça president, who demands a higher price to part with the Pole. The offer is rejected, and there has been an official reply, something they didn't expect there.

To let Lewandowski go, Laporta has asked for a figure higher than the 30 million being offered in Saudi Arabia. In this regard, Madrid-Barcelona has been able to find out how much money we're talking about: 45 'kilos'. The difference, in total, between the proposal and the request from FC Barcelona is 15 million euros, something considered manageable by both parties.

These 45 million euros are what Barça paid in 2022 to sign Lewandowski from Bayern. It's the figure Laporta is asking for, and although the Pole is performing exceptionally, he believes that obtaining such a significant amount for a veteran can't be refused. This doesn't mean Robert is transferable, but neither is he non-transferable. At the right price, Joan is willing to let him go.

Lewandowski, Lucrative Offer from Saudi Arabia: 100 Million Net per Year

If Saudi Arabia offers 30 million to Barça, the salary proposal to Lewandowski is much higher. In total, the Pole would earn 100 million euros tax-free for each year he spends there. However, the reality is that, although Laporta is open to a departure, it's the Pole himself who has no intention of leaving.

Lewandowski's plan is clear: to finish his contract at Barça. This means he doesn't plan to leave until June 30, 2026, when the contract ends. This could change with a great offer, but the reality is that the possibility of heading to Saudi Arabia doesn't quite convince him.

At this point in his career, Lewandowski values experience over money. For him and his family, the money from Saudi Arabia is not a priority. It seems clear he won't retire at FC Barcelona, pointing his future to a destination like the United States to finally hang up his cleats.
