Hansi Flick Knows it! KO at Barça: Surgery and Goodbye to the Season — It’s Official

The German coach bids farewell to one of La Masia's prospects who was on his list for the next season

Hansi Flick has high hopes for him, but he knows he won't be able to count on Dani Rodríguez until next season. The youth player debuted with the first team in Valladolid and, although he left a good impression, he couldn't even finish the first half of the match because he injured his shoulder. After the tests conducted, it has become clear that he will have to undergo surgery, keeping him out for a long period of time.

"Barça B player, Dani Rodríguez, will undergo surgery next Thursday, May 15, for the dislocation in his right shoulder, which he suffered in the match between Real Valladolid and the first team of FC Barcelona. After the operation, the club will issue a new medical statement," Barça itself has pointed out.

Having had to undergo surgery, the young youth player is expected to be out for the next three months, presumably receiving medical clearance at the beginning of August. This  would give him the opportunity to earn a spot in Hansi Flick's squad, although everything seems to indicate that he won't be able to start the preseason.

Hansi Flick likes Dani Rodríguez a lot, as he has qualities that fit into the 'senior' squad. It remains to be seen what will happen with the youth player, who at 19 years old is prone to injuries. In Valladolid, he had bad luck and now he will be out for the next three months, seeing how his dream of earning a spot with FC Barcelona might slip away.

Hansi Flick Wants Dani Rodríguez at Barça

Sources from Barça point to Madrid-Barcelona that  there is no intention of letting Dani Rodríguez leave. Hansi Flick is a great admirer of his and hopes that, soon, he can permanently move up to the first team. He is an attacking profile that has been missing this season and to whom he would have liked to give an opportunity earlier. Unfortunately, injuries have postponed this moment more than the German would have wanted.

In any case, Hansi Flick is clear: Dani Rodríguez has more than enough quality to be in the first team and he hopes to take him to Asia next preseason. There, he will have the opportunity to earn a spot definitively with the 'seniors', or to seek an alternative. A loan is not ruled out, but there will never be a permanent departure. If he is in condition, he will have the opportunity to prove his quality to stay with the 'seniors'.
