Messi's Friend Asks to Return to Barça and Joan Laporta Responds: 'Traitor, Now Already...'

The footballer dreams of returning to Barça, but the club still has to decide, as it doesn't want to rush.

FC Barcelona has experienced golden eras, but few as brilliant as the MSN. Between 2014 and 2017, Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Neymar formed one of the most lethal forward lines in history. Goals, titles, and spectacular soccer made the "culé" team dominate Europe, culminating with the conquest of the Champions League in 2015.

However, in 2017 everything changed. Neymar surprised the world with his decision to leave Barça to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, in a record transfer of 222 million euros. His departure caused controversy, not only for the sporting impact but also for the manner in which it occurred.

Neymar Wants to Return

After his stint at PSG and his current phase at Saudi Al-Hilal, Neymar has given clear signs of wanting to return to Europe. He has now returned to Santos, the club where he began his career, with the goal of regaining his level and proving that he remains in the elite.

Journalist Santi Ovalle, on the program Què T’Hi Jugues of SER Catalunya, confirmed that the Brazilian has a dream: to return to Barça. His idea is to play one last great stage in the team where he lived his best years. But, although his intention is clear, the decision doesn't depend solely on him.

Joan Laporta's Stance

Barça's president, Joan Laporta, hasn't forgotten what happened in 2017. Neymar's departure complicated the club, and his failed return in 2019 worsened his relationship with the board.

From the "blaugrana" environment, they assure that Laporta has doubts about his return. Not only because of what happened in the past but also because of the injuries and irregularity that have marked the Brazilian's career in recent years. Laporta doesn't want him to return to the team right now.

A Possible Return?

Neymar's signing faces several obstacles. First, Barça's economic situation, which is still far from being able to make large investments. Second, the sports planning, as the team seeks to bet on young players like Lamine Yamal and Pedri.

Despite everything, in soccer, nothing can ever be ruled out. If Neymar convinces Laporta and the coaching staff, his return could be the big surprise of the summer.

For now, the ball is in Barça's court. Neymar wants to return, but... will they let him?
