Joan Laporta's favorite won't sign for Barça: Deco can't do anything

A signing that excited Barça is becoming complicated as the market enters its final key days

The transfer market remains open and, as every summer, promises many surprises. Teams are looking to strengthen, and rumors are nonstop. However, not all negotiations end as desired. In Barça's case, one of the signings that caused the most excitement has become unexpectedly complicated.

Alexander Isak, the 25-year-old Swedish striker, has been at the center of a real saga with Newcastle United. His name was strongly linked to strengthening the blaugrana attack, but now everything indicates that the transfer won't be possible.

Isak, in total rebellion

The striker made it clear through his social media that his situation at Newcastle wasn't ideal. According to him, the club hadn't fulfilled some agreed-upon terms. His message was clear: he won't play for the "Magpies" again and demands to leave the team.

Newcastle's response has been to try to keep him at all costs. Less than a week before the market closes, executives Jamie Reuben and Jacobo Solis personally went to the player's home to offer him a contract renewal. They want to keep their star, and his current contract through 2028 gives them strong backing.

An almost impossible offer to beat

Newcastle isn't willing to let Isak go for less than €170 million. At this time, the player's value is estimated at €120 million, but his quality and the need for a "number 9" with his characteristics make the club stand firm.

Barça, like other major European clubs, was watching with interest. However, the situation is complicated. Time is running out, and the financial conditions prevent the transfer from being viable. Deco, who dreamed of signing the striker, can't do anything in the face of such a closed and demanding negotiation.

The track record that backs Isak

The 24/25 season was historic for Newcastle and for Isak himself. The club broke a 70-year trophy drought by winning the League Cup, and the Swede scored the decisive goal in the final against Liverpool (1-2). In total, he scored 27 goals and provided 6 assists in 42 matches, becoming the team's top scorer and its second-best assist provider.

This performance raises his value and justifies the club's firm stance. Liverpool's offer is very attractive, and the final details are already being worked out to finalize the possible deal.
