Fabrizio Romano Announces the Next Renewal at Barça: ‘Soon’

The renowned journalist talks about a 'settled' contract that will be 'sealed soon.'

Barça is taking advantage of its return to the 1:1 financial rule to seal various renewals and secure the future of the entity. Recently, we have seen several players going through the club's offices to renew their contracts, but there is one who hasn't done it yet. We are talking about  Íñigo Martínez, whose continuity is assumed until 2026, but it hasn't been made official yet.

Regarding the renewal of Íñigo Martínez, Fabrizio Romano has spoken clearly, indicating on his X account that there is nothing to fear. The renowned journalist pointed out that "the new agreement until June 2026 was agreed in January" and that "it will be sealed soon". It is something that is "confirmed" and should be made official in the coming weeks, with everything 100% agreed and no problems in the negotiations.

The latest: There are problems with Íñigo Martínez's renewal

In this regard, although everything is agreed between Barça and Íñigo Martínez, the truth is that there is an external party causing problems: LaLiga. Mundo Deportivo announced that, although everything is closed, the top Spanish organization considers that  "there is not enough salary margin" at the moment to register his new contract.

Once again, we are facing problems between Barça and LaLiga.  The blaugrana team has indicated that the renewal "should be admitted" as a clause was included in the contract that contemplated his continuity.

However, it seems that it is all mere bureaucracy. Íñigo Martínez's situation is settled, and there shouldn't be any problem. It is expected that once the market opens on July 1, Barça will have the necessary salary margin to register his new contract in LaLiga.

Meanwhile, Íñigo Martínez has no fear and trusts that he will soon be able to sign his new contract with Barça. He is happy, feels important under Hansi Flick's orders, and is not considering any departure. He has received interest from foreign clubs, such as those from Saudi Arabia, but he has never doubted his continuity.
