Confirmed, Arsenal pays the €60M and says goodbye to Barça: Lewandowski is to blame

Mikel Arteta is taking him to London after all the rumors linking him to Barça

FC Barcelona has been analyzing the market for some time in search of Europe's next great "9". There have been many names on the table, but it seems that the desired arrival will have to wait until next season.  Laporta plans to make a major investment in this position, coinciding with Robert Lewandowski's departure when his contract ends in 2026.

However, Lewandowski's continuity this season has caused one of the main targets to disappear from the list. We are talking about  Viktor Gyökeres, who, at 27 years old, has decided to leave Portugal immediately. In this scenario, Arsenal has started working to finalize his signing as soon as possible.

Viktor Gyökeres will play for Arsenal

L'Équipe has revealed that  Gyökeres's future may become clear sooner rather than later. The Swede's preference is to head to Arsenal, with which he has already reached an agreement. There is a contract on the table to play at Emirates Stadium until 2030, for the next five seasons.

The good news for Arsenal is that, since July 1, a new clause in his contract has been activated. To leave,  Viktor Gyökeres has a cost of €60 million ($60 million), much lower than the price the Lisbon club was previously asking for.

A top goalscorer

At 27 years old, Viktor Gyökeres has established himself as one of the most sought-after strikers in European soccer. The Swede has had a spectacular season with Sporting de Portugal, posting numbers that seem straight out of a video game:  54 goals and 13 assists in 52 official matches. His performance has attracted the interest of major clubs across the continent, who see him as an immediate offensive guarantee.

Gyökeres stands out for his physical power, ability to find space, and a composure in front of goal that few strikers currently possess. His growth has been meteoric since he left Coventry City to make the leap to Portuguese soccer, where he has fully exploded.

Viktor Gyökeres has shown that he is ready to compete at the highest level, and his name is one of the most talked about in this market. After numerous rumors, it now seems that he will head to Arsenal, which is prepared to pay €60 million ($60 million) for his signing.
