Confirmed! The Entire Season at Montjuïc: The Players Feel Deceived

Laporta is considering giving up playing at Camp Nou this season to speed up the construction work ahead of summer 2026

Barcelona's squad has received another cold shower. After months of promises about returning to Camp Nou, they've learned that, once again, there won't be an immediate move.

Neither the Joan Gamper Trophy nor the start of La Liga nor the Champions League group stage will be played at the blaugrana stadium.

The news hasn't just come as a cold shower for the fans, but also inside the locker room itself. The footballers are upset. They feel deceived.

This isn't the first time they've been given a date to return home only for it to be changed without prior notice.

They were asked to say goodbye to Montjuïc last May. That it was definitive. That the 2025 Gamper would already be at Camp Nou.

But now they know it won't be that way. What's worse is that many have found out through the press, not through the club.

Frustration grows within the squad

Internal sources acknowledge that there's unrest within the team. The players don't understand why Laporta keeps giving dates that are never met.

First it was November 29, 2024, the club's 125th anniversary. Then January 2025, later March, and then May was mentioned.

It was even taken for granted they'd return in August, right at the start of the new season. Barça would play the Gamper in a pilot test with two of the three stands open.

None of those dates have been met. What's worse, UEFA has informed Barça that, by regulation, it's not possible to change venues in the middle of the Champions League group stage. Until January, nothing.

This situation has caused distrust and frustration. The players miss greater transparency. Nobody informs them clearly, and many don't understand why there's a constant insistence on promising what can't be guaranteed.

Laporta considers staying at Montjuïc all year

Meanwhile, in the club's offices, a drastic decision is starting to gain traction. It would mean giving up on returning during this season and completing the entire campaign at Montjuïc.

The idea, although unpopular, would allow the works to be accelerated as much as possible and require the construction company Limak to deliver the finished stadium in the summer of 2026 (2026), including the overhang.

From an operational point of view, it would be the most reasonable. It would avoid stoppages, mid-season moves, physical risks to fans, and would give the team stability. But it directly clashes with what Laporta has promised time and again.

The president is once again under scrutiny. The players, tired of the ever-changing versions, don't believe anything anymore.

For them, the only clear thing is that Montjuïc will remain their home. At least, until further notice.
