FC Barcelona decided in January to move on from Nico Williams. Despite being one of the great sensations of Spanish soccer, Joan Laporta has made it clear that his moment has passed and that the club's focus is elsewhere.
Nico Williams was discarded
The Barça president gave the green light to Dani Olmo, and the arrival of the Leipzig player has closed that door... but only partially.
Because although Nico is no longer on the roadmap, Barça is still looking for an explosive left winger with goals, flair, and media projection. Deco already has two names highlighted in red: Marcus Rashford and Luis Díaz.
Marcus Rashford, the media option

The Manchester United forward, loaned to Aston Villa, is experiencing a period of ups and downs. But he remains one of the most high-profile players in European soccer. His explosiveness, goal-scoring ability, and versatility are appreciated at Can Barça, where his experience at the elite level and commercial profile are valued.
Moreover, the English player wouldn't mind a change of scenery, tired of the instability at Old Trafford. The problem: his high salary and transfer fee. Even so, Deco keeps in touch with his camp and doesn't rule out a loan with a purchase option if United wants to cash in.
He recently stated that nothing would make him happier than playing alongside Lamine in a Barça that captivates with its play. And that works in his favor.
Additionally, he would be willing to lower his salary (€14 million) to play at Barça.
Luis Díaz, the signing Deco likes the most

But if there's one player that captivates the sporting management, it's Luis Díaz. The Colombian from Liverpool has everything Barça looks for in a winger: speed, audacity, defensive work, and goals. Moreover, his situation at Anfield isn't the most stable, and the English club would be willing to negotiate.
Luis Díaz would be the most realistic and immediate signing if the club finds salary space. Deco has marked him as a priority target to strengthen a left wing that needs firepower for the next season.
Nico Williams, a thing of the past
Joan Laporta himself was clear on TV3: "He was a candidate, but we chose Olmo". Words that didn't sit well with Nico's camp, who felt slighted. Barça thus closes a chapter but opens another with two names that can make the Barça fans dream.
