Women's Barça Defeats Chelsea but Mapi León Delivers Bad News: 'I Have...'

FC Barcelona is one step closer to a new Champions League final, having defeated Chelsea 4-1

Women's Barça keeps flying in Europe and has, for now, one foot in a new Champions League final. During Chelsea's visit to Johan Cruyff, Romeu's team managed to win decisively 4 to 1, being superior at all times. Despite this, not all news was good, with Mapi León requesting a substitution at halftime after feeling some discomfort.

Mapi León: Injured Against Chelsea

Mapi is a cornerstone in Women's Barça's defense, so a significant injury would be bad news for Pere Romeu. Towards the end of the first half, the Aragonese center-back grabbed her right quadriceps with obvious signs of pain after feeling a twinge. In her place, after the break, Ingrid Engen came in, doing a good job during the remaining 45 minutes.

At the end of the first half, Mapi León headed to the locker room, where she underwent a brief medical examination. In this, it was clear that she suffered from minor discomfort. "I have some discomfort in the quadriceps," she told the rest of her teammates.

Initially, the plan with the Aragonese player is to subject her to a more thorough medical examination in the coming hours. This will determine the full extent of her injury, with her presence in doubt for the return leg at Stamford Bridge. In any case, with the result obtained at Johan Cruyff, Women's Barça is clear that they will not push their central defender in London.

Women's Barça is Going for Another Final

This match didn't start too well for Women's Barça, with Alexia Putellas missing a penalty in which VAR intervened. Despite this, they went into halftime ahead, with Ewa Pajor scoring the 1-0 in the 35th minute. Afterward, the next goal wouldn't come until the 70th minute, when the Champions League top scorer, Claudia Pina, increased the culer lead.

The joy didn't last long for FC Barcelona, with Chelsea closing the gap shortly after thanks to Baltimore. Despite this, Pere Romeu's team didn't falter and continued scoring until the final 4-1, with goals from Paredes and Pina.

Women's Barça is on the verge of new Champions League finals, with a 3-goal lead for their visit to Chelsea's field. Lisbon awaits, a new final is on the way for the culers.
