Barça Fans Erupt After Learning the New Opening Date for Camp Nou

Barça Reorganizes Camp Nou's Construction to Focus on Essentials and Ensure Its Reopening as Soon as Possible

The wait is getting longer and so is the patience. FC Barcelona fans have reacted with frustration upon learning that the return to Spotify Camp Nou won't be in the summer, as many desired. This news has sparked anger on social media and culé forums, where the feeling is one of fatigue and disappointment.

Another Season at Montjuïc

The idea of returning to Camp Nou with the Joan Gamper Trophy, scheduled for August, has been ruled out. Barça will play the entire 2024-25 season at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. This decision was made by the board, partly due to UEFA's requirements, which do not allow a change of stadium during the Champions League group stage.

The news has been a cold shower for fans who have not fully adapted to Montjuïc. The cold atmosphere, the distance from the field, and the loss of identity weigh heavily. The desire to return home is stronger than ever.

The Construction, in Full Swing

The club assures that the work has been accelerated. The construction company Limak, responsible for the project, is working 24-hour shifts during the week and also on Saturdays. The Barcelona City Council has been key in facilitating permits and avoiding further delays.

One of the significant changes has been postponing the installation of the roof, now scheduled for May 2026. This has allowed the reorganization of the work to focus on the most urgent tasks: getting the stadium ready as soon as possible.

Additionally, the installation of VIP seats has been prioritized, whose exploitation has already been sold to investors. This area will be ready before June 30.

The Club Sets a Date: September 16, 2025

Although the stadium won't be 100% complete, Barça has set September 16, 2025, as a key date. By that day, Camp Nou must be ready to host matches with an audience—up to 60,000 spectators—and with all usage and safety licenses approved.

This date coincides with the start of the Champions League group stage. The goal is clear: to debut the new Camp Nou in Europe, although with ongoing work in some areas.

The Fans, Tired of Waiting

In the offices, there is optimism, but not so much in the stands. The fans feel that the date has been changed too many times. The return to Camp Nou has become a promise that never seems to be fulfilled, generating a mix of disappointment and skepticism.

They want to return. They want to feel the roar of the stadium again. But, for now, they have to keep waiting.
