Barça beats Espanyol and claims LaLiga title: 'The 28th is here'

FC Barcelona delivers and wins the Catalonia classic, making them the new LaLiga champions

They had to fight until the end, but after a complicated match against Espanyol, we can say that Barça is now, absolutely officially, the LaLiga champion. They achieved their 28th league title after defeating the blanquiazul team 0-2 in Cornellà, with Lamine Yamal leading the challenging victory. History repeated itself, with the culer team winning the domestic competition on the field of their main territorial rival.

It was harder than desired. In fact, Barça had to endure until the final moments, but they did it. After a poor first half, Lamine Yamal appeared at the RCDE Stadium, tipping the Catalan classic against Espanyol with an authentic great goal

This came in the 53rd minute, in a signature move. Cutting in from the right to the central area, Lamine Yamal pulled off a great shot to send it to the back of the net. He didn't do it just any way, as he shot the ball to the top corner, making it impossible for a great goalkeeper like Joan García to stop it. In stoppage time, Fermín López decided with the final 0-2.

Barça wins their 28th League

Despite attempts from Madrid to sell a possible competition until the end, the truth is there will be no more competition. With two LaLiga matches left to play, Barcelona is already the champion in full right. They do so with a seven-point lead (eight counting the goal average) over their great rival, rendering their last victory against Mallorca meaningless.

Barça deserved it and earned their reward, once again, in Cornellà, as they did two years ago. This time, with a calmer celebration, leaving everything for the parade that will take place in the coming hours through the capital of Catalonia

This way, Hansi Flick has completed a national treble in his first season as Barça's coach. First came the Spanish Super Cup, defeating Madrid, then the Copa del Rey, also beating the whites. And now LaLiga has been obtained in Cornellà, saving the celebration for next Sunday in Montjuïc.

The only "but" of the season was in the Champions, falling at the last moment in the semifinals against Inter. Next season, surely, will be the great objective.
