Adulterated League? Ancelotti: 'I Don't Want to Lower Myself to This Level, I Respect Spanish Football'

A year ago Ancelotti had a different opinion from his club and its TV. Real Madrid decides when a league is rigged.

"I am a professional, and as a professional I don't want to stoop to this level out of respect for Spanish soccer. It's not a level for professionals".

Ancelotti contesta a Xavi: "¿La Liga adulterada? no quiero bajar a este nivel" I MARCA

These are Carlo Ancelotti's words when Xavi claimed that the league was rigged for Real Madrid to win.

Ancelotti and Real Madrid Lose Respect for Spanish Soccer

Just a year ago  these were the words of the Madrid coach at a press conference. At that time, Real Madrid was leading the standings with authority and Ancelotti wasn't interested in others' victimhood.

Only a year later, Ancelotti has lost respect for Spanish soccer, forgetting his professional side. He no longer cared about getting into the thick of it.

When Barça, or Xavi, complained, it was pure victimhood from a losing team that was only looking for excuses to justify their failures. Now that it's Real Madrid complaining, Ancelotti rolls up his sleeves and stoops to whatever level is necessary. Respect for Spanish soccer no longer matters to him.

It's Not the First Time. He Also Criticized Real Madrid

It's not the first time Ancelotti has been caught in a contradiction. The archives play tricks on him. Like when he visited Bernabéu with Bayern  and left with a refereeing performance tailored to Real Madrid.

Then he said: "There have been decisions that have penalized us a lot, honestly. Arturo's card wasn't a card. Cristiano's two goals were offside, and we're not happy with this.

In a quarterfinal, you have to put a referee with more quality. There are too many mistakes".

And two years ago, in the league, the one who never talks about referees, complained bitterly after a penalty suffered in Girona:

"It's not a penalty because he didn't touch the ball with his hand". And in the images, the contact of the ball with the hand, diverting its trajectory, was clearly visible.

"Invented Penalty"

And even the offender himself, Marco Asensio, admitted to the referee that the ball hit his chest and hand. "He didn't touch the ball with his hand, they invented it", Ancelotti insisted.

Ancelotti has his own principles, but it's clear that if he needs to change them, he does so without any shame.

This way, Ancelotti claimed that the referee invented a penalty to harm Real Madrid. There was no sanction for the white coach.

It is clear that only Real Madrid, and no one else, can decide when a league is rigged.
