Ronald Araújo renews with Barça and has a SURPRISE CLAUSE: Laporta's OK

The Uruguayan center-back has accepted the renewal proposal, but on one condition

Ronald Araújo has reached an agreement to renew his contract with Barça until June 30, 2031. In a turn of events after receiving strong interest from Juventus, the Uruguayan center-back has decided to stay, being convinced by Deco. Everything is confirmed and official, except for one important aspect of his new deal: the new release clause.

At the moment, Ronald Araújo's clause is a complete mystery. Until now, breaking his contract required a price of one billion euros, but Madrid-Barcelona has learned that this has changed. As a condition to continue, the Uruguayan defender has requested a "more accessible" release clause for Europe's top clubs, to facilitate his departure in the future.

Although he trusts Deco's word, he is not entirely sure about his future at Barça. What he wants is the possibility to leave if the situation doesn't improve and remains the same in the future. Ronald Araújo has put the blaugrana team in a more favorable position for the future... but what he wanted all along was the possibility to choose his next destination.

An unconfirmed aspect is that his release clause would be set at around 100 million euros, a price that Barça would see as beneficial for his definitive departure.

Ronald Araújo Wasn't Sure about Juventus

Although his departure seemed certain, the reality is that Ronald Araújo wasn't entirely sure about Juventus. It is not a club that appeals to him, and if he were to leave, he considers his ideal destination to be in England. He has never hidden his desire to play in the Premier League and, with a new release clause, everything would be easier.

Upon learning of this, Laporta quickly gave his approval to Deco, with the intention of keeping one of his captains at Barça. Right now, despite his new clause, it is not expected that the Uruguayan will leave the Culer entity soon. It is true, however, that he has the option to decide his future in his hands.

Ronald Araújo considers his new contract a complete success and hopes that the relationship with Barça remains beneficial. If this changes, he will have a more accessible clause to decide his next destination.
